Frankie Muniz stepping aside for teammate Luke Baldwin wasn’t the only driver swap after NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series qualifying at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

A total of five drivers failed to qualify for the race, including Dawson Sutton. Now, Sutton is the only full-time driver for Rackley W.A.R. and was put in a position where he had to qualify on time due to an unusual chain of events.

Sutton normally pilots the No. 26 Chevrolet, which is plenty high enough in the owner points to not have to worry about making the show. However, he was driving the No. 27 Chevrolet this weekend in order to help get teammate Toni Breidinger into the race. She has already made five attempts with Rackley this year, resulting in two DNQs and three starts.

The move ultimately backfired, mainly because Sutton faced serious brake issues during Friday’s lone practice session and never actually made a lap in qualifying.

Breidinger, a part-time driver who brought Raising Cane’s as a sponsor, made the show as the 34th-fastest of 41 entries, falling back on owner points. Unfortunately for her, the team made the decision to focus on their full-time driver, and so she is losing her seat for the rest of the weekend as Sutton reclaims the No. 26 Chevrolet for the race.

Motorsport.com’s Matt Weaver is at the track and confirmed the change, with the team already swapping out the seat for Sutton.

He enters this race 18th in the championship standings, so he doesn’t have a real shot of making the Chase this year. New Hampshire Motor Speedway is the final race of the regular season with the top ten drivers in the championship standings making the cut.

So, along with DNQs Mason Massey, Derek White, and DL Wilson, Muniz and Sutton will not take part in the event either after the driver changes.
