NASCAR’s 2027 schedule continues to take shape, and Kansas Speedway isn’t going anywhere.

Kansas Speedway announced Wednesday that NASCAR will return to the 1.5-mile track for two race weekends next season, with events scheduled for May 8-9 and Oct. 1-3, 2027.

Both weekends will feature NASCAR Cup Series races, preserving Kansas’ two annual dates on the Cup calendar. The spring Cup race is scheduled for Sunday, May 9, while the series will return for its fall Chase race on Sunday, Oct. 3.

The announcement also confirms a busy supporting schedule at Kansas, particularly during the fall weekend.

Kansas Speedway keeps both NASCAR Cup Series races

Kansas’ first NASCAR weekend of 2027 will begin Saturday, May 8, with a doubleheader featuring the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series.

The Cup Series will take center stage one day later on May 9.

NASCAR will then return to Kansas in October with all four series competing over three days.

The ARCA Menards Series and Craftsman Truck Series will race Friday, Oct. 1. The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 2, followed by the Cup Series Chase race Sunday, Oct. 3.

Kansas Speedway President Pat Warren pointed to the continued popularity of NASCAR in the region when announcing the dates.

“Fan-demand for NASCAR continues to grow in the Midwest, so we’re thrilled to bring a full-slate of NASCAR action back to our loyal fans over these two race weekends,” Warren said. “This track has consistently produced some of the best racing on the schedule, so our fans are sure to be in for another great race weekend.”

Kansas has hosted NASCAR competition since 2001. The track is a 1.5-mile tri-oval with variable banking of 17 to 20 degrees in the turns.

Kansas has produced some of NASCAR’s closest racing

Keeping two Kansas dates also preserves a track that has delivered several memorable Cup races in recent years.

The biggest example came in May 2024, when Kyle Larson edged Chris Buescher by 0.001 seconds, the closest finish in NASCAR Cup Series history.

Kansas will host two NASCAR weekends again before the calendar turns to 2027. Its remaining 2026 weekend runs Sept. 25-27, culminating with the Hollywood Casino 400 on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The complete 2027 NASCAR schedule has not yet been unveiled, but tracks have been announcing dates as NASCAR gradually fills out next year’s calendar. NASCAR is maintaining a running list of confirmed races as those announcements arrive.

For Kansas, however, the important part is already official: two Cup races and two full NASCAR weekends are coming back in 2027.
