Robert MacIntyre withdrew from the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs, on Friday, Aug. 14 after enduring a challenging opening round.

On Thursday at TPC Southwind, MacIntyre battled oppressive heat with the index soaring above 100 degrees. He carded a 12-over-par 82, recording three double bogeys, a triple bogey, and just one birdie, his toughest round since joining the PGA Tour.

As a result, he found himself eight shots adrift at the bottom of the St. Jude Championship leaderboard going into Friday’s second round.

MacIntyre’s withdrawal has left his playing partner, J.T. Poston, to play his second round alone.
