Fiorentina have officially purchased Mateo Pellegrino from Parma for €24.5m, and in turn sent Roberto Piccoli to Bologna on loan with obligation for €18m plus bonus.

This was the key part of the striker merry-go-round that had been in the works for a few days in Serie A, as centre-forwards revolved between different clubs.

Pellegrino had also been linked with Juventus, but ultimately it was Fiorentina who secured the Argentine for a reported fee of €22.5m plus €2m in add-ons.

It is a complete purchase, which allowed them to slightly lower the original asking price of nearly €30m.

Pellegrino scored 12 goals in 39 games for Parma last season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
