MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Elite athletes from other sports gravitating to golf is nothing new, nor is the concept of professional golfers offering the occasional tip to help with their game, but on Wednesday at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Rory McIlroy took the concept to the next level.
Asked the “biggest celebrity” in his phone’s contacts and which “celebrity” he would like to give a lesson the world No. 2 offered a blunt assessment.

“I would say LeBron [James],” McIlroy said. “LeBron’s really gotten into golf and he’s the most unbelievably gifted athlete, but it doesn’t look like it when he’s on the golf course. I’d love to give him a lesson.”
As for the “biggest celebrity” in his phone’s contacts? “It’s probably Michael Jordan,” he said.
