Ferran Torres’ expected departure from Barcelona has taken an unexpected turn, with the forward’s imminent move to Paris Saint-Germain reportedly causing some tension inside the dressing room.
The transfer itself is no longer the biggest surprise. What has caught some of Torres’ Barcelona teammates off guard is the way the situation has unfolded.

According to Gerard Romero, a couple of players were left confused by the forward’s approach throughout the summer.
They reportedly had little idea that their teammate was moving towards an exit and were particularly surprised that he did not share much with them about the situation.
That has created an awkward atmosphere around a player who is now preparing to leave the club.

Torres’ move to PSG has been one of the more unexpected transfer developments surrounding Barcelona this summer.
The agreement is expected to be worth €50 million in fixed payments, with another €5 million potentially arriving through variables.

If completed, it would bring an end to his time at Camp Nou and give him a fresh start in France.
The forward was originally due to return to Barcelona training on Wednesday alongside the other members of the squad who had been away on international duty.
Instead, he has been allowed to remain away from training so that he can focus on completing the final details of his move to PSG.
The decision has the approval of Hansi Flick, who already understands that the forward is unlikely to be part of his squad next season.

Romero reports that a couple of Barcelona players felt the situation was strange because Torres did not tell them about his plans during the summer.
That extended to the World Cup period, when the players remained in contact, but Torres still did not openly discuss the possibility of leaving Barcelona.
For what it is worth, it is easy to understand why that would leave some members of the squad feeling surprised.
The Spaniard shares an excellent relationship with his Barcelona teammates, so it is only logical for some of those players to feel what they are feeling.
