Candyroot Lodge – a new destination in development in the Carolina Sandhills near Jefferson, South Carolina – will open its first planned course to preview play Oct. 28. The course is slated to open fully in 2027, and the destination plans to eventually expand to four full courses plus a par-3 layout.
The new 18-hole, public-access layout was designed by Mike Koprowski, a former U.S. Air Force intelligence officer who broke into golf design working for architect Kyle Franz and eventually built the well-received Broomsedge Golf Club in South in concert with Franz.
The preview play at Candyroot Lodge will follow a day-pass model with a price of $175 and will be available Wednesdays through Sundays. The fee includes as much golf as a player wants each day, select food and beverage, and a welcome pouch with golf goodies. A forecaddie is required, and that fee is extra. The preview play will be available at Candyroot Lodge’s website starting Sept. 8, and each day will be capped at 40 players.
