An electrical fire inside the cafeteria at Hog Neck Golf Course in Easton caused roughly $50,000 in damage Saturday, but no injuries were reported.
The fire broke out around 1:20 p.m. and was discovered by an employee, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal. Investigators determined that it originated inside a wall space.
Thirty firefighters from the Easton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the one-alarm fire and brought it under control within about five minutes.

The preliminary cause was “an unspecified electrical event associated with the structure’s branch wiring,” according to fire marshal records. A smoke alarm was present, although the records do not indicate whether it activated. The building did not have a fire-alarm or sprinkler system.
A golf course spokesperson said the cafeteria will remain closed for several weeks while repairs are completed.
Hog Neck Golf Course, on 10142 Old Cordova Road, is owned and operated by Talbot County.
The fire marshal’s office and Talbot County did not immediately respond to a request for additional information.
