Michael Thorbjornsen won his first PGA Tour title at the Rocket Classic on Sunday.
Thorbjornsen has come incredibly close to winning in the past, and had a great chance heading into the final round at The Players Championship in March.

He played poorly in the final round at TPC Sawgrass but the complete opposite was true on Sunday in Detroit.
Michael Thorbjornsen can now call himself a PGA Tour winner after his superb final-round 63 at the Rocket Classic.

The 24-year-old is a serious talent and now that he has broken through the barrier by winning for the first time, he will undoubtedly record many, many more victories over the next few years.
Right now, though, Thorbjornsen has to enjoy his very first PGA Tour victory, because that is what it’s all about.

The American spoke to Amanda Balionis on CBS immediately after his win in Detroit.

He was asked how he felt after winning on the PGA Tour for the first time.
“I don’t know how to feel right now,“ Thorbjornsen admitted.
“It was such a battle out there. Playing with some great players. I feel like everyone was in the mix kind of after nine holes.

“I’m just really happy. I stuck to the process, committed to hitting certain shots and I’m just very, very happy with how I played.“
Thorbjornsen was incredibly emotional after his win at the Rocket Classic, understandably so.
For Thorbjornsen now, it will be all about going out there and winning consistently over the next couple of decades.

Thorbjornsen was asked whether he feels like he has finally fulfilled his potential.
“Yeah, I feel like I’ve been out here for a few years now,“ he replied.
“You just kind of have to block it all out. Amateur golf to professional golf, they’re completely different stages and it’s gonna take some time to kind of get used to playing where you’re playing at.
“You come out here and you need to learn the certain shots that you need to hit, the numbers that you need.
“It doesn’t matter how far you hit it. It matters if you can hit certain numbers and certain shots.

“I just started working with Foley a month ago and I feel like we’ve gotten to a really good point in my swing right now where I feel like I have a lot of control and that’s kind of something I didn’t really have.
“So to kind of see all the hard work pay off and all the patience, yeah, it feels amazing to be sitting here. It’s a very cool thing to look at (the trophy).“
