England’s boxing success at the Commonwealth Games continued with three gold medals during the first session of action on Saturday.
Sacha Hickey, Patris Mughalzai and Isaac Okoh all won their finals to add to the three bronzes already secured.

With four more boxers in finals on Saturday, the squad could yet make this England’s most successful Commonwealth Games in boxing.
All four need to win to break the previous record of six golds in Australia in 2018.
Hickey beat Northern Ireland’s Kaci Rock and then explained how she got into boxing by playing on an Nintendo Wii in her parents’ living room.
“I felt I was in control of the fight,” she said.
“I sparred with Kaci a few weeks ago and she is an amazing person, advocate for women in sport and someone I look up to.”
Mughalzai, who was born in Russia but learned to box in London after moving to the UK as a toddler, beat Australia’s Jacob Cassar.

“As soon as draw came out, I saw I had it hard. I think I have boxed all of the best kids here,” said Mughalzai.
“Skills pay the bills.”
Essex’s Okoh, who like Hickey and Mughalzai won by unanimous decision, came through a tough tussle with Welshman Connor Williams and said he has “two eyes” fixed on winning an Olympic title in Los Angeles in 2028.
“It is the dream of all amateur boxers to win an Olympic medal,” he said.
“We are the right route to getting there. I feel I am more than capable of doing it.”
