It has been expected that Savinho will eventually depart Manchester City this summer. The expectation is that the Brazilian international will sign for Tottenham. It now looks like Savinho is attempting to accelerate his departure from the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders.

In a separate report for TeamTalk, Graeme Bailey reports that Tottenham have issued an ultimatum to Manchester City over their move for Savinho. As per Bailey’s report, Tottenham want a final answer from City on Savinho by the weekend. If an answer doesn’t arrive, Tottenham will move on to other transfer targets.
Furthermore, it is reported that Tottenham were confident of signing Savinho for a total package of up to £60 million. However, City have held internal discussions over whether they should sell Savinho for more. Also, it was believed that Manchester City wanted a replacement lined up for Savinho before selling him. This hasn’t occurred and Tottenham are believed to be frustrated by Manchester City’s stalling on sanctioning Savinho’s move to Spurs. Lastly, Graeme Bailey reports that Savinho has expressed to Manchester City that he wants to depart the club this summer in recent days.
Savinho is eager to complete his move to Tottenham, but City still hold all of the cards.
Fabrizio Romano and Graeme Bailey’s reports show that Savinho is desperate to sign for Tottenham this summer. However, Savinho is contracted to City after signing a contract extension last season and he has travelled with his teammates on Manchester City’s preseason tour to Asia. Despite wishing to leave City, Savinho is remaining professional despite his clear intention to leave the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders.

However, in this situation, Manchester City do hold all of the cards. They are under no financial pressure to sell Savinho. Also, City do not want to weaken their squad by selling the Brazilian international without having a replacement lined up. Tottenham can express their frustration, or issue an ultimatum, but it is likely to not change Manchester City’s stance. Savinho has a long-term contract with City and he will not be allowed to leave unless it is on Manchester City’s terms.
Savinho is eager to sign for Tottenham this summer. Spurs are also keen to complete their move to sign him as quickly as possible. Manchester City know all of this and have their own priorities to get in order. It looks like Savinho’s possible move to London may be held up unless something changes quickly this week.
