Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …

Three free agent signings who make sense for the Eagles prior to training camp – PhillyVoice
K Daniel Carlson. Carlson has been the Raiders’ kicker since 2018. He was named Second-Team All-Pro in 2021 and First-Team All-Pro in 2022. He is 37 of 51 (72.5%) from beyond 50 yards over the course of his career. He’s 12 of 19 (63.2%) from beyond 50 the last two seasons, with a long of 60. By comparison, Jake Elliott is 5 of 15 from beyond 50 the last two years. Carlson connected on 85.0% of his field goal attempts in 2024 and 81.5% in 2025. Those were down seasons for him. Elliott also had down seasons in 2024 and 2025, but was worse, at 77.8% in 2024 and 74.1% in 2025. In fairness, Carlson’s home stadium in Las Vegas was a dome, and Elliott kicks in a much more difficult environment in Philly. But, I mean, it feels a little ridiculous to just hand Elliott the kicking job after two downright bad seasons. At least give him some competition.

Zack Baun unanimously considered a top 10 linebacker by NFL coaches and executives – BGN
The NFL’s best players at each position continue to be revealed by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, and the latest list includes yet another defensive player from the Eagles. Among those considered the Top 10 linebackers throughout the league, Zack Baun emerges in the No. 4 spot — with Jihaad Campbell also receiving at least some Top 10 votes.

A Dead Horse – Iggles Blitz
Not bad for a below average QB, right? None of this really matters. Hurts was ranked ninth last year. That ranking didn’t help him have a good year or win a playoff game. If anything, the low ranking probably helps since it will serve as a motivating factor for a player who is at his best when doubted.

2026 NFL trade tiers: Players worth Round 1 picks by team – ESPN
Two first-round picks: DT Jalen Carter, CB Quinyon Mitchell. General manager Howie Roseman’s top picks from the 2023 and 2024 draft classes lead the way here, as Carter and Mitchell have quickly become cornerstones on one of the league’s best defenses. They are also still on their rookie deals, with Mitchell ineligible for an extension before next spring. Carter didn’t quite hit the heights that Eagles fans would have hoped a year ago, but turn on the 2024 playoff tape, and you’ll see why so many teams would love to add a player of his talent to their D-lines. One first-round pick and more: QB Jalen Hurts, OT Jordan Mailata, WR DeVonta Smith. Hurts could inspire a whole article on his own given how disparate viewpoints are on the Eagles star. There are organizations that see Hurts as an integral part of a team that won a Super Bowl and made it to a second over the past few seasons, and others who might not even want Hurts’ deal for free given that he’s owed $51.5 million across each of the next three seasons. I’d point out that Carson Wentz still landed the Eagles first- and third-round picks after his collapse in 2020 as a reminder of how much even flawed quarterbacks can net via trade.

Eagles offseason review, Part 1: How reality measured up to our 25-step blueprint – The Athletic
1) Try to convince A.J. Brown to stay. If that doesn’t work, trade Brown and target a late first-round pick by attaching a mid-round pick to Brown. What happened: It was clear the situation with Brown was untenable, so Roseman made the trade and targeted a first-round pick. He did not need to attach a mid-round pick — in fact, he received a fifth-round pick as a sweetener. The difference is my plan included pursuing a 2026 pick to help this year’s roster. The Eagles were willing to wait until 2028 (and 2027 for the fifth-rounder). The cap space they saved by waiting until after June 1 to make the trade was key. Roseman navigated this better than I proposed. I didn’t mind waiting until 2028, and that pick will likely be better than the No. 31 pick this year, but it’s also a reality the Eagles traded a star wide receiver and did not directly add anyone who will help this year’s team in the deal. (They can reallocate the cash saved.)

Eagles 2026 most important list: Lane Johnson – NBCSP
He’s 36 now and entering Year 14 in the NFL. But when he’s healthy, there aren’t many players in the NFL who are better than Lane Johnson. He’s a future Hall of Famer who hasn’t lost a step yet. The Eagles need that to continue in 2026. Last season, Johnson was playing at a familiarly high level until he suffered a Lisfranc injury in November. The plan was for Johnson to eventually return and that was the hope even into the playoffs. But ahead of the playoff game against the 49ers, Johnson’s foot swelled again and he wasn’t able to go.While Johnson is at the age where he considers retirement after every season, he actually wasn’t very close to hanging up his cleats this offseason. “I didn’t want to go out that way,” Johnson explained this spring.

Ranking all eight NFL divisions entering 2026 season – NFL.com
6) NFC EAST. Some might say I’m being too harsh on a division that includes both of 2024’s NFC finalists and the Super Bowl LIX champion, but things change quickly in this league. Derailed by injuries at quarterback and beyond, Washington fell from NFC heavy to afterthought in 2025. Dan Quinn’s defense finished as the worst in the NFL in yards allowed per game, prompting significant reconstruction efforts in early 2026. Jayden Daniels returns after a frustrating and abbreviated sophomore campaign with decreased expectations … but a lasting hope that 2025 was an anomaly. Philadelphia continues to reign as the division’s king, but things aren’t perfect there, either. A.J. Brown is gone, having been traded to New England as a means of ending their drama-filled partnership. Jalen Hurts is learning yet another offensive coordinator, too, getting acclimated with former NFL quarterback and new play-caller Sean Mannion. Despite an 11-6 finish, division title and playoff berth, the vibes surrounding the Eagles were negative, much like they were at the end of the 2023 season. Now, they must prove they can bounce back and return to the successful form that powered them to a Super Bowl triumph in 2024, but they’ll have to do so with a defense that isn’t as strong as that squad was (bonus points for adding Jonathan Greenard, though). If ever there was a time for a new team to unseat the Eagles, it’s now.

Dontayvion Wicks looks to reward trust shown by Eagles – PhiladelphiaEagles.com
So, it’s no wonder that when the Eagles hired Packers Wide Receivers Coach Ryan Mahaffey and Quarterbacks Coach Sean Mannion to the coaching staff this offseason, the team quickly made a move to bring along the 6-foot-1 receiver to Philadelphia from Green Bay. “Me and Sean built a relationship just like Coach Mahaffey,” Wicks said about their time with the Packers. “Relationships play a big part in things, so I felt like that was a big part of the reason why, you know, the trust for me to be here and for them to bank on me.” After spending his first three seasons in Green Bay, the Eagles traded for Wicks this April, sending a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick in exchange for the talented wideout. “It’s always interesting, you know, trade news. But, I feel like it’s a different opportunity for me, and I’m looking forward to it,” Wicks said of the trade. The Eagles showed their trust even more in the fourth-year receiver by signing him to a two-year contract once the trade was complete.

ESPN says Dallas Cowboys have 2 of best 7 receivers in NFL – Blogging The Boys
The Dallas Cowboys’ biggest advantage on their roster at the moment is tied to who they have at wide receiver. CeeDee Lamb has been one of the better wideouts in the NFL for a few years now, and this past season George Pickens announced himself as more than just a sidekick. Together Lamb and Pickens comprise arguably the best wide receiver group in the entire league. According to ESPN’s rankings of wide receivers – these are based on their sourcing of league executives, coaches, and scouts – they literally do have the best wide receiver group in the entire league.

Suspect Commanders decisions Adam Peters made during 2026 NFL offseason – Hogs Haven
Not going big at cornerback. This is sorta similar to the receiver argument, but Peters didn’t really address two areas of real need despite having the cap space to do so. He added Amik Robertson in free agency but didn’t pay tons for him – two years, $16 million — showing belief in Trey Amos and Mikey Sainristil. Peters selected both guys in the second round over the last two seasons, so it makes sense he’d back them. Amos is coming off a season-ending leg injury and Sainristill off a rough 2025 campaign. Will they combine with Robertson and play well at a vital position? Adding Rasul Douglas last week was a smart move as competition and injury protection, but there was some quality available in free agency and Peters took a pass. Will that come back to bite them? Maybe, maybe not. And maybe the Commanders shouldn’t have gone big at both receiver and cornerback, but addressing each one lightly might not have been the move.

NY Giants training camp: Wide receiver questions abound – Big Blue View
Malik Nabers’ availability. After two surgeries to repair the OCL he tore in Week 4 of the 2025 season, there have been questions about Nabers’ availability and effectiveness early in the season. GM Joe Schoen and head coach John Harbaugh have maintained an optimistic tone throughout the offseason. That continued this week when Harbaugh appeared on ‘The Dominique Foxworth Show.’ Harbaugh said “there’s a lot of optimism” about both Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo. Skattebo was already taking practice reps during mandatory minicamp as he recovers from last season’s dislocated ankle. As for Nabers, Harbaugh said this: “Malik will be working his way into practice as camp gets started one way or another. To what degree, we will find out.” When, how much, and how effectively Nabers practices will be a major training camp storyline. He is the Giants’ best playmaker, and his presence obviously makes the offense better.

The Skinny Post: Who is facing pressure to win the Super Bowl in the 2026-27 NFL season – SB Nation
Pressure to win the Super Bowl. RJ: At some point the Kyle Shanahan dust has to wear off, right? I recognize he has proven himself to be more than legitimate, but the current core of 49ers players isn’t going to be around forever. San Francisco has to find a way to put everything together before it is too late. Since last winning the Super Bowl, people forget they have a drought older than the Cowboys’ in this respect, they have seen the Rams and Seahawks each do it twice. The Rams even did it while calling two separate cities home. The Seahawks just won one on the 49ers’ field!
