Charlie Woods will have to wait at least another year to check off an important box for any amateur golfer.
The son of 15-time major champ Tiger Woods struggled during Thursday’s U.S. Amateur qualifying at Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course. Charlie shot a five-over-par 76 to miss qualifying by six shots.

A total of 13 qualifiers and two alternates emerged from the site with William Lisle and Lorenzo Pinili sharing medalist honors at four under.
Woods, who was named to the Rolex Junior All-America team in 2025, will play in the U.S. Junior Amateur later this month at Saucon Valley. The 17-year-old has committed to play at Florida State after he finishes his high school career next year.
In addition to his dad’s many pro golf accolades, he’s also remembered for one of the most storied amateur careers. Tiger Woods won a record three consecutive U.S. Juniors and three consecutive U.S. Amateurs, including his first as an 18-year-old in 1994.
The 2026 U.S. Amateur will be held August 10-16 at Merion Golf Club.
