This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke with retired 8-time Pro Bowl defensive back Patrick Peterson.
In his interview with Easton Jr., Peterson, who is participating in this weekend’s American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe, which is currently airing on NBC and Peacock, shared his excitement for the tournament and partnership with Performance Golf, as well as his opinions on other top NFL players on the golf course.

“I feel pretty good going into, into this year because I feel like I have the proper time to prepare for the American Century, during my playing days, it was always tough, because you’re coming out of mini camp, OTAs, we’re lifting (weights), your shoulders tired, and football players tend to, to have that over the top swing,” said Peterson, “So now that I’ve been retired for going on three years, I have real dedicated time to work on my game, my swing path, and my club impact on the ball. I feel like I’m a better ball striker than I have been. Performance Golf has really helped me out a ton. They’ve really been helping me understand my root flaws, the things that are causing my bad swings or shots. I feel like I’m in a better position.”
The usual Kansas City Chiefs participation of Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes in the tournament will be missed this year. Still, the legendary cornerback highlighted a recently retired NFL standout as competition in this weekend’s field.
“Adam Thielen, he’s probably the better golfer in my opinion out of the football players,” said Peterson, “Adam is a scratch golfer, I’m not a scratch golfer, but that’s just the type of challenges in the guys that I’m chasing after, that’s in my field, because I already know the baseball players are their light years better than pretty much all the other sports. I’ll probably say we’re neck and neck hockey and football players, but far as on the football side, I’ll go with Adam Thielen.”
