It was bleak early on for Green on Thursday at Evian, however, where she was 4 over after seven holes. But one of the strongest minds on tour kept battling, pouring in five birdies coming in to shoot 1-under 70. She trails leader Aki Iwai by seven.

Charley Hull back in the mix at a major
Charley Hull was 2 over after 7 holes in the opening round of the Evian, and then everything changed. Back-to-back birdies on Nos. 8 and 9 changed the momentum for the Englishwoman. On the back nine, Hull made birdies on Nos. 13, 15 and 16 before making eagle on the last. In her post-round interview on Golf Channel, Hull smiled as she credited the ice cream her caddie had on the 15th.

Nelly Korda’s dominant season could be kicked into overdrive this week in France. A victory would give her the career grand slam and put her into the LPGA Hall of Fame. The last American to do both was Juli Inkster in 1999.
