The DP World Tour has its best field of the year at the Scottish Open.

Not only are the usual European suspects teeing off on the tour like Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood, but as the PGA Tour players prepare for The Open Championship in this co-sanctioned event, the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele are also playing at The Renaissance Club.

And it gets even better for the DP World Tour, as some of LIV Golf’s biggest stars, like Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, have also been allowed to play in the event, giving it a major championship feel.

All this has been made possible because of some devastating news for LIV Golf, which the DP World Tour could benefit massively from next year.

DP World Tour benefits from LIV Louisiana’s postponement

LIV Golf’s funding struggles reached an all-time low when LIV Louisiana was postponed. The event’s postponement means there are no LIV events between the US Open and The Open Championship, so players had to look elsewhere for some competitive action.

They turned to the DP World Tour, with a host of LIV players teeing off at last week’s BMW International Open and this week’s Scottish Open.

With the likes of Sergio Garcia and Joaquin Nieman playing last week in Germany, and Rahm and Hatton playing in Scotland, the tour had two of the most compelling fields of its season thanks to LIV’s struggles.

This is a promising sign for the future. LIV is scrambling to secure funding for next season after the Saudis withdrew their support. If the tour cannot find investment, then its players will most likely turn to the DP World Tour.

All LIV players have a one-year suspension from the PGA Tour dating back to their most recent LIV event, so they will not be allowed to return to the tour if LIV does fold. However, a number of LIV players have maintained their DP World Tour membership.
