Fenerbahce have claimed they have struck a deal with Nathan Ake for the defender to join from Manchester City.

The Turkish club, who were runners-up in the SuperLig last year, said the Netherlands international had agreed a contract with them.

However, City’s view is that no move has been arranged, though they are in positive conversations with Fenerbahce and are hopeful they can settle on a £7m transfer, rising to £8.5m in add-ons.

Ake is entering the last year of his contract with City, meaning this summer is the last realistic chance to recoup a fee for him.

“Ake, who has been playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will join our team at the Austrian training camp after his leave of absence.”

Ake cost City £41m from Bournemouth in 2021 and has gone on to make 177 appearances, scoring 10 goals. He figured most often in the treble season of 2022-23 and the following campaign.
