Alex Bowman is arguably the most important domino in NASCAR silly season. After suffering from vertigo earlier in 2026, Bowman has little to no chance of making the Chase. The driver of the No. 48 car hasn’t displayed enough speed since returning. However, will he return to the No. 48 car in 2027?
Motorsports Wire predicts that Bowman will drive the No. 48 car for Hendrick Motorsports during the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season. If Bowman wants to keep racing, Ally Financial and Hendrick Motorsports would welcome him back with open arms. If not, the driver of the No. 48 car could walk away from full-time racing.

Bowman’s future with Hendrick Motorsports might be short-lived, but he would be the best option for the organization in 2027. After all, Connor Zilisch would be a more viable candidate in 2028. For now, it is up to Bowman on whether he wants to retire from full-time racing or keep driving in NASCAR.
