Chase Elliott is dropping in the NASCAR Cup Series point standings. After a good run of races in the spring months, Elliott has fallen to sixth place in points behind Kyle Larson and Ty Gibbs. This comes after the 2020 Cup Series champion has only had one top-10 finish in the last six races.
The driver of the No. 9 car was Hendrick Motorsports’ fastest driver after winning at Texas Motor Speedway, but Larson has four top-5 finishes in the last five events. Elliott and the No. 9 team have been a step behind, even if he had a really good car before wrecking at Michigan International Speedway.

With Sonoma Raceway coming up next, Hendrick Motorsports’ road course program suggests that it could be another rough weekend for Elliott. The Hendrick Motorsports driver is only 34 points above Chris Buescher in seventh place, so he could drop even more if the performance doesn’t change.
