The 2026 U.S. Open has seen a weekend of unpredictable weather, which looks to ease as it heads into the final round and the crowning of a champion on Sunday at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.

The third major of the year kicked off with dense fog rolling over the course, resulting in a two-hour delay on Thursday. As the fog lifted, competitors faced relentless high winds and bright, sunny conditions in the second and third rounds.

Forecasts for Sunday’s final round call for temperatures that will begin at a brisk 57 degrees Fahrenheit in the early morning before climbing to a comfortable 78 degrees by afternoon.

Winds are expected to remain a challenge, with steady breezes between 8 and 16 mph and gusts reaching up to 25 mph. Although the chance of rain is 25%, the unpredictability of the weather at Shinnecock doesn’t rule it out for the final round as it unfolds.
