This weekend all three NASCAR divisions will be competing for the first time on a temporary race course on a naval base near San Diego.

The team at this point in the season has to be considered a contender for a NASCAR championship, something that has eluded Hamlin in the past.

With a change in how a champion will be determined, based on points and not the order of finish in the final race of the year. The title is up for grabs.

Chase Elliott has two victories with Ryan Blaney, Ty Gibbs, Carson Hocevar, Daniel Suarez and Shane Van Gisbergen all with one victory each.

The series will remain on the West Coast for a race on the Sonoma road course before returning to Chicago Speedway on July 5.
