While LIV Golf’s future is absolutely in doubt, 13 of the league’s members will be taking part in the U.S. Open this week at Shinnecock Hills in New York.

In reality, there are just two that you should keep an eye on. Bryson DeChambeau is coming off of two very rough major championship outings, which is surprising considering the tear he had went on just before things turned for him. Then there’s Jon Rahm, who has been dominating on the LIV Golf circuit and was just in contention at the PGA Championship.

LIV Golf is very uncertain entering the week, too. Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund has announced that it is pulling funding for the league after the 2026 season. LIV Golf is now looking for new investors to rebrand and stay alive, but next season is in doubt for sure.

Scottie Scheffler is still the favorite this week. A win for him would complete the career grand slam. But Rahm isn’t far behind, and Dechambeau, who won the tournament in 2024, has more than proven he’s capable when things go right.

Here’s a look at the 13 LIV Golf members in the field this week in New York.

LIV Golf members playing at the U.S. Open

Jon Rahm
Best finish: 1 (2021)
OWGR: 8

Of all the LIV Golf members in the field this week, Jon Rahm is in the best spot to win.

Rahm has won twice on LIV Golf this season and has four runner-up titles in what’s been a dominant run for the former top-ranked golfer in the world. He finished second at the PGA Championship last month, too, and has been incredibly consistent week-in and week-out. Expect Rahm to be able to contend this week.

Bryson DeChambeau
Best finish: 1 (2020, 2024)
OWGR: 32

It’s been a bit of a rough stretch for Bryson DeChambeau, who was once dominating at the majors for LIV Golf. He missed the cut at both the Masters and PGA Championship this season, and his game looked rough. But he did help lead his LIV Golf team to a win in Korea, where he revealed he used Gemini to help fix his swing. We’ll see if the AI help can carry over into the major.

Tyrrell Hatton

OWGR: 21

Tyrrell Hatton missed the cut at the PGA Championship last month, but that’s the real outlier for him at majors over the past two years. He finished T3 before that at Augusta National for his best Masters outing, and he came in fourth last season at the U.S. Open. He won the LIV Golf tournament in Andalucia earlier this season, too.

David Puig
Best finish: T39 (2023)
OWGR: 57

David Puig is in this week after he cracked the top 60 in the OWGR, thanks largely to his T18 finish at the PGA Championship last month. He finished in second at LIV Golf Mexico City, too, and has five top 10 finishes this season.

Joaquin Niemann
Best finish: T23 (2021)
OWGR: 80

Joaquin Niemann missed the cut at the U.S. Open last season, but he is coming off a T18 run at the PGA Championship last month. He won LIV Golf Korea in a playoff this season, too, which helped him secure entries into both the U.S. Open and British Open this summer.

Lucas Herbert
Best finish: T31 (2021)
OWGR: 88

Lucas Herbert is back in the U.S. Open for the first time since 2023. He’s only made the cut once at the major in his four starts, and he earned his way in this week as the top three players in the LIV Golf standings not otherwise exempt into the tournament. He won LIV Golf Virginia this season, too.

Cameron Smith
Best finish: 4 (2023)
OWGR: 136

Cameron Smith has only made the cut once in his last seven major starts. But that was last month, when he snuck into a T7 finish at the PGA Championship. We’ll see if that can restart things for him.

Carlos Ortiz
Best finish: T4 (2025)
OWGR: 188

This will be Carlos Ortiz’s fifth U.S. Open start since he made his debut in 2016. He finished T4 last season, and was just four shots off the lead entering the final round. He posted a 60 earlier this season at LIV Golf Hong Kong, too.

Peter Uihlein
Best finish: T48 (2018)
OWGR: 181

Peter Uihlein earned his way in this week through a qualifier. It will mark his first major appearance since 2018, the same year he finished T48 at the U.S. Open when it was also at Shinnecock.

OWGR: 245

Dustin Johnson has missed the cut in his last two U.S. Open starts, and he only made the cut in one of the four majors last season while plummeting to No. 245 in the world rankings. He’s only finished under par in two of his last 10 major starts, too. The former top-ranked golfer in the world has finished in the top five in his last two LIV Golf outings, however, and has at least made the weekend in his last three majors. That’s a start.

Caleb Surratt
Best finish: –
OWGR: 287

Caleb Surratt survived a 6-for-1 playoff at his U.S. Open qualifier in Dallas to earn a U.S. Open berth, which will be his first ever major championship appearance. He’s made three top-20 finishes with LIV Golf this season.

Graeme McDowell
Best finish: 1 (2010)
OWGR: 950

While he won back in 2010, Graeme McDowell has struggled over the past decade or so. He’s not played in a major championship at all since the 2021 campaign, when he missed the cut at the U.S. Open, and he only made it in this week through a qualifying event.
