Christopher Bell’s wreck during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway will be talked about for years to come. After Chase Elliott got loose, the No. 9 car went up the track, putting Bell in a direct line to the wall. It was a massive wreck that broke the Joe Gibbs Racing driver’s left wrist. One week later, Bell gave some information about his impact.
In a Saturday press conference, Bell said the wreck at Michigan registered 63 Gs. The driver of the No. 20 car said he knew his wrist was broken because he couldn’t unhook his cool shirt with his left hand. The pain in Bell’s foot was just a bruise, but the impact was so hard that his earpiece popped out, leaving him with no communication to his team.

Bell was cleared to race at Pocono Raceway and was on track to finish in the top 5 before running out of gas. Brandon Jones was the standby driver, but he wasn’t needed. However, Bell will have to see how he feels heading into the Cup Series event at San Diego, as a road course might be too challenging with his broken wrist.
