Before Tuesday night’s Summer Shootout race, Kyle Busch’s father, Tom Busch, drove the iconic No. 51 around the speedway for an honorary pace lap. Standing in the flagstand was Brexton, who waved the green flag as his grandfather made his way around the track.
The tribute came less than two weeks after NASCAR honored Busch during Coca-Cola 600 weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Family members, drivers, team owners, crew members, and NASCAR officials gathered before the race to remember the two-time Cup Series champion and one of the most accomplished drivers in the sport’s history.

Richard Childress Racing has already announced that Busch’s No. 8 will remain reserved for Brexton should he one day choose to pursue a NASCAR career at the national level.
