It has been over a year since Hendrick Motorsports star Kyle Larson’s last NASCAR Cup Series win. The defending Cup Series champion came out on Sirius XM and addressed this alleged “slump”, detailing how he’s not losing any sleep over it.
Kyle Larson’s last win came at the Advent Health 400 in Kansas, which was the 12th round of the 2025 Cup Series season. In the playoffs last year, the No.5 Hendrick Motorsports driver went on to grab the title without a win.

Larson has come close to winning this season, finishing five times in the Top 5, but hasn’t stepped on the top step of the podium yet. The No.5 Chevrolet driver has also led more laps than championship leader Tyler Reddick, and only Denny Hamlin has led more laps than him.
The Hendrick Motorsports driver was asked about the winless streak on Sirius XM NASCAR radio, and the American fired back at the “slump” talk over the winless streak. He said,
“I don’t feel bummed or sad or anything of that nature that we haven’t won in over a year now because we have been consistent. Always could be more consistent, and I think that’s an area that I’ve strived to get better at, and then yeah, I just think that we’ve had less opportunities to win just because the Gibbs, the Toyota cars are so fast,”
“But I feel like, man, we’re doing a good job with what we have. We’re sixth in points, we’re not too far out of fourth. So, yeah, sure I want to be winning right now and all of that, but I’m not going to stress myself out about it either because I understand that there’s still work to be done to get to where we need to be. And two, we’re running inside the top-10, we’re not running outside the top-10.”
“I think that would feel more like a slump. I don’t really feel like we’re in a slump at the moment. So, just gotta keep our heads down, stay focused on us, and it will come together,” added Kyle Larson

The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan saw a total of 11 cautions, breaking the previous track record of 10. A total of 54 laps were run under caution, which is over a quarter of the 200-lap race. Kyle Larson, speaking on Sirius XM Speedway, highlighted his frustrations as he said,
“I feel like we’ve been running under caution so much. Feels like we spent half the races under yellow, which has been frustrating, but would like to get some green flag racing in.”
Kyle Larson ran most of the race battling the effective race leaders and finished P4, battling Carson Hocevar to the chequered flag. Denny Hamlin won the race by an 11 second gap to Erik Jones in P2.
