Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Fernando Mendoza is expected to be the franchise quarterback for the Raiders. The first overall pick for 2026 has begun to make his mark with him impressing early on during OTA’s.
Mendoza finished his college football career at the University of Indiana, but started at California Berkley. His play during his early years helped him get on the radar of coach Curt Cignetti. He transferred to the Hoosiers, and the result was Indiana’s first-ever national championship.

It is graduation season, and Mendoza is academically connected to Cal. That is why this weekend, Mendoza had the great opportunity to finish out his degree in Berkley. He walked with his former classmates and accepted his diploma from the university.
With Mini-Camp on the horizon Mendoza has a chance to display if he is ready to more reps with starters in practice. He will come into the quarterback room with a feeling of accomplishment. Kirk Cousins is a worker too, which makes this quarterback room a place of comfort for the Raiders’ new star signal-caller.
