Braxton Berrios is back in the Meadowlands.

The veteran receiver is signing a one-year deal with the New York Giants, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The former Jet worked out for the Giants on June 1 alongside some other veteran receivers like Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster, Anthony Miller and more.

Berrios will end up being the one to walk away from that workout with a contract, which comes after Gunner Olszewski suffered a torn Achilles during organized team activities (OTAs). The Giants didn’t announce the deciding factor, but Berrios could fill Olszewski’s role on special teams.

The receiver hasn’t been much of a factor on offense since leaving the New York Jets, totaling just six catches for 37 yards in the last two seasons with the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans. Luckily for the Giants, they aren’t looking for another impact player on offense but rather one who could contribute in other ways.

Berrios joins a Giants depth chart that has plenty of talent but also its fair share of questions.

Malik Nabers is still rehabbing from a torn ACL and recently underwent a cleanup procedure that could jeopardize his Week 1 status. The WR2 on the depth chart, Darius Slayton, underwent core muscle surgery this offseason and is still recovering.

That leaves Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III and rookie Malachi Fields as the top three receivers available in the Giants offense this offseason.

Now they can also rely on Berrios, who brings another veteran presence to the room.
