The Buffalo Bills have been able to find offensive line talent in multiple different ways during general manager Brandon Beane’s tenure with the club. Whether it’s drafting someone in the second round, signing a veteran free agent, or scouring for undrafted rookie free agents at the conclusion of a given year’s draft, Beane realizes that offensive linemen come from all different walks of the football world.

Speaking of the football world, the subject of today’s installment of “91 players in 91 days” hails from across the Atlantic Ocean. A former rugby player from Basingstoke, Hampshire in England isn’t the first person who comes to mind when thinking about offensive line prospects. However, this offensive lineman in particular is a big man with tremendous athleticism.

Name:  Travis Clayton

Number:  67

Position:  T

Height/Weight:  6’7” 303 lbs.

Age:  25 (26 on 2/17/2027)

Experience/Draft:  2; selected by Buffalo in the seventh round (No. 221 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft

College:  NA

Acquired:  Seventh-round draft choice

Financial situation (per Spotrac):  Clayton signed a two-year deal, a reserve/futures contract, worth $1,934,500 at the end of last season. If he makes the 53-man roster, he’ll carry a cap hit of $889,250 for the season. If he’s released, Buffalo will carry the total guaranteed amount in his contract as a dead cap charge, which comes to $8,500 for the season.

2025 Recap:  Clayton once again ran with Buffalo’s deep-reserve unit during training camp and the preseason, playing in Buffalo’s preseason debut against the New York Giants. He also participated in joint practices with the Chicago Bears before the two teams played in Week Two of the preseason. Clayton entered concussion protocol ahead of Buffalo’s final preseason matchup, however, and he did not make the roster. Given his status as an International Player Pathway (IPP) participant, he was given a developmental spot on the practice squad. He remained on Buffalo’s practice squad for the duration of the season, signing a reserve/futures contract at the end of the year.

Positional outlook:  Clayton is one of only six players on the current roster listed at offensive tackle. Spencer Brown, Dion Dawkins, Jude Bowry, Tylan Grable, and Chase Lundt are the others.

2026 Offseason:  Clayton is healthy and has participated in offseason workouts to date.

2026 Season outlook: Clayton is a great athlete, but he has little chance at making the team this season. Buffalo has Dawkins and Brown written in Sharpie as the starting left and right tackles, respectively. They just drafted Bowry, and they’ve been high on Grable since they picked him in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. That’s four tackles right there, and it doesn’t even factor in Chase Lundt, who was a sixth-round pick of the Bills’ in the 2025 NFL Draft.

There’s no risk in keeping Clayton around, as the team is allowed to carry an extra player on its “90-man” roster thanks to the rules around the IPP program. If Clayton clears waivers at the end of August, the Bills can also keep an extra player on their practice squad so long as Clayton himself is that “extra” player. I assume that’s what will happen here. There’s no need to cut ties with their long-term project, but there’s also no need to keep him on the 53-man roster. Clayton is likely looking at a spot on the practice squad once again in 2026.
