As Manchester City celebrated the entire club’s achievements for 2025-26 and farewelled Pep Guardiola, John Stones and Bernardo Silva at Co-op Live on Monday night, it was pleasing to see Jack Grealish as part of the celebrations. Grealish returned to help parade one of the 20 trophies that City won during Pep Guardiola’s reign as manager. That was fitting for Grealish as he did help City win a selection of trophies during his time as a member of Pep Guardiola’s squad. Jack Grealish spent the 2025-26 season out on loan at Everton and showed signs that he may get back to his best before a stress fracture in his foot ended his season in January.
Heading into the summer transfer window, it appeared that Grealish would be sold by Manchester City, with Everton seemingly his likely destination. However, a new era is set to get underway at City with Enzo Maresca as manager. A new report indicates that Maresca feels that Grealish could play a role in his squad, so the possibility that Grealish could revive his City career exists. But is there a role for Grealish at the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders? That isn’t immediately clear.

Enzo Maresca reportedly believes that Jack Grealish could have a role to play in the new era at City.
Jeremy Cross has reported for The Mirror that Enzo Maresca could hand Jack Grealish a reprieve and resurrect his City career. Furthermore, Cross reports that Maresca is set for talks with the England international over the possibility of Grealish returning to City. Furthermore, Cross reports that Grealish had decided he had no future at City while Pep Guardiola remained as manager. With Guardiola having departed his post as City manager, circumstances have now changed. As per Jeremy Cross, Maresca believes that Grealish can play a role in a new era at Manchester City. Lastly, it is also reported that Maresca will expect Jack Grealish to report for Manchester City’s preseason training.
It is hard to see Jack Grealish returning to Manchester City but isn’t impossible.
The possibility that Jack Grealish could return to Manchester City does seem fanciful at first glance. Grealish’s time at City looked to have come to its natural conclusion last summer. A loan move to Everton was the best move for him and City. Grealish started the season strongly for Everton, but unfortunately, injury ended his season. The expectation was that Grealish would be sold by City at some point this summer.

However, a new era is to begin at City following Pep Guardiola’s departure. Enzo Maresca is expected to be named as Manchester City’s next manager in the near future. If Maresca feels that Grealish can play a role for him, the idea that Grealish can remain at City isn’t as far-fetched as first thought. City may need another winger this summer; Jack Grealish could play that particular role. However, it doesn’t seem that Grealish’s age fits Manchester City’s squad profile. But it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that Grealish could start preseason with City and see how that unfolds.
Enzo Maresca reportedly believes that he can offer Jack Grealish a lifeline and extend his Manchester City career. The pair are reportedly set for talks, as Jeremy Cross has reported. It seems unlikely that Grealish will be at City next season, but stranger things have happened in football, so you can never say never.
