The Miami Dolphins drafted University of Pittsburgh linebacker Kyle Louis in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Although he wasn’t selected until Day 3, plenty of people around the league are already expecting big things from Louis.

According to Bleacher Report, Louis is one of the most likely Day 3 draft picks to make an immediate impact in the league due to his ability to be versatile. He can play close to the line of scrimmage when needed, but also excels in coverage at 6’0” and 220 lb. With Miami’s safety room lacking star power, Louis could find himself playing snaps in Miami’s secondary from day one if he can impress the coaching staff this offseason.

New Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley already seems to be a fan of Louis. Speaking on his versatility, Miami’s coach had this to say:

“It excites me. I think anytime you can draft a player who can do multiple things, it’s our job as coaches to have a vision for him and figure out where to play him or play him in multiple spots.”

In four seasons at Pitt, Louis amassed 201 combined tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 6 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries in 37 games played.

If the Dolphins can get immediate returns for Louis, their rebuild will be ahead of schedule, as Day 3 selections are not typically contributors during their rookie seasons. Can Louis be an unexpected surprise for Miami in 2026? We will all find out in a few months’ time.
