Joshua Zirkzee is once again in the spotlight at Roma.

The name of Manchester United’s Dutch striker is resurfacing strongly ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 2001-born player was already a key target in January to strengthen the Giallorossi’s attack.

However, the move never really took off: the high costs and Manchester United’s need to maintain attacking options nipped any potential negotiations in the bud.

Roma then chose to focus on Donyell Malen, another Dutch player who, within a few months, won over everyone at Trigoria and became one of the key players in the Champions League race.

But Gasperini has apparently never stopped thinking about Zirkzee. According to Gazzetta.it, the Giallorossi coach would like to build an all-Dutch attacking duo alongside Malen for next season.

The idea is highly appealing due to their technical qualities and complementary nature: quality passing, mobility, ability to link the play together, and offensive unpredictability. A much more dynamic attack than what we’ve seen this season.

Zirkzee’s contract with Manchester United expires in 2029, but the striker could leave England as early as this summer after a disappointing season, marked by limited playing time and unconvincing performances.

His valuation has reportedly dropped significantly compared to recent months, and the Dutchman could now be leaving for a fee between €20 and €25 million.
