Newton Square, Penn., is home to about 15,000 local residents. But this weekend, the streets will be bustling more than usual with the PGA Championships coming to town.

It’s been 64 years since the Aronimink Golf Club hosted the PGA Championships, but it’s back this year with a star-studded field of golfers.
The two favorites are Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion of the event, and Rory McIlroy, who recently won his second green jacket in as many years. They will joined by a gaggle of other golfers and fans on the outskirts of Philadelphia.

This year’s PGA Championship is moving back to Aronimink, a location that has hosted several PGA and LPGA events and is set to host more soon.

The last time the PGA Championship was hosted at the Aronomink course was 1962, when the moon had not been landed on and Ray Charles was topping the charts. That event was won by Gary Player, who was 26 years old at the time and 90 now.
This course has come back for more events, however, hosting the Women’s PGA Championship in 2020 and the BMW Championship in 2018.

Future PGA Championship sites
In 2027, the PGA Championship will be in Frisco, Texas at the PGA Frisco. This course was the host of the Senior PGA Championship in 2023, but 2027 will be its first time hosting this level of major event.
