DeMarcus Lawrence made waves last offseason when he said he left the Dallas Cowboys so he could go and win a Super Bowl. Ultimately, his decision proved to be correct. In his first season with the Seattle Seahawks, Lawrence hoisted the Lombardi Trophy.

Now, Lawrence is using the same pitch to lure free agents to the team.

Former Cowboys lineman Dante Fowler revealed Lawrence persuaded Fowler to sign with the Seahawks with the promise of winning another Super Bowl, per the team’s website.

“We talked for like 30 minutes on FaceTime, just chopping it up, and after that I made my decision,” Fowler said after signing with the Seahawks on Monday.

And what was Lawrence’s biggest message to Fowler that helped convince him to sign with the Seahawks?

“If you want to win a Super Bowl, you should come here,” Fowler said, relaying Lawrence’s message.

Given how well things turned out for Lawrence last season, it’s not a bad strategy to keep reminding people that his prediction came true.

Shortly after signing with the Seahawks last season, Lawrence drew the ire of Cowboys fans — and some former teammates — by saying he was never going to win a Super Bowl if he stayed in Dallas.

“Dallas is my home. I made my home there. My family lives there. I’m forever gonna be there. But, you know, I know for sure I’m not gonna win a Super Bowl there, so … yeah,” Lawrence said.

Fowler wasn’t among the former teammates to take issue with Lawrence’s statement, though the two are familiar with each other. Fowler and Lawrence played together with the Cowboys in both 2022 and 2023. Fowler put up modest production over those two seasons, totaling 10 sacks in 34 games.

After a year away in Washington, Fowler opted to return to Dallas for the 2025 season. He once again put up decent numbers, picking up three sacks and 10 quarterback hits.

There’s some thought that Fowler could see his sack total rise in 2026 on a loaded Seahawks defense. With multiple players commanding defensive attention, Fowler could see more one-on-one matchups, which could lead to him winning off the line.

Even without Fowler, the Seahawks were expected to boast one of the league’s strongest defenses in 2026. If he can get back to his double-digit sack totals, Fowler could be a key cog that keeps the Seahawks at the top of the defensive ratings once again.

And if that leads to yet another championship, Fowler will have Lawrence to thank.
