Let’s be honest here, Arne Slot’s future at Liverpool is all over, there is no going back for him now.
You have to give credit to the Dutchman where its due. He won the Premier League. Last season’s title will always be his. He achieved that. With effective tactics and smart tweaks.

But none of that negates the fact that, this season he is completely culpable and out of his depth.
Since winning the Premier League, Liverpool have gone on one of the worst runs in the club’s history and it’s not just about the results – the football has been appalling. Slot’s football is slow and lethargic. He can’t get the best out of his players. He can’t evn get the bare minimum out of some of his players.
It’s very obvious that he is struggling in every sense of the word to keep this Liverpool boat afloat. It’s a miracle Liverpool still have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
Slot won less than 50% of his games in 2025. He’s won even less than that in 2026. The Reds have won just 13 of their last 29 games.

Since winning their first five games of the season, Liverpool have only won 12 matches in the Premier League in 31 games.
That is simply not good enough, and there is no going back from this.
The draw against Chelsea, after a defeat at Old Trafford was another indictment of Slot’s era coming to an end.
Liverpool were sluggish and the Dutchman was booed at the final whistle. His decision to substitute Rio Ngumoha, who was Liverpool’s only attacking threat was also greeted by boos.
But it’s not even about the result, it’s about the performance. Liverpool’s stars had no excuse to perform in the manner that they did.

Slot had plenty of time to prepare for this game – he had a week off to prepare and fix what wnet wrong at Old Trafford.
Instead, he turned up and his side put in the same performance yet again.
A team full of stars looked like they were a League One side taking on one of the best teams in the Premier League. When in reality this was a Chelsea side on a run of losing six matches.
It was amateur and the reaction from the Liverpool fanbase was telling. Fans left the stadium early. Those who stayed booed the team at full-time.
Fans want change. They need change.
There’s no redeeming quality to Slot’s style of play.

Slot set-up in a way that wasn’t effective again. He’s been outclassed in most Premier League matches, and against most Premier League managers this season.
Chelsea was merely confirmation that it’s all over for him as the long-term head-coach of the club.
The fans are now turning against him. He’s got no answers left and it’s clear based on the performances of his players, that at least a portion of the dressing room have lost their faith in him.
His comments leading up to the game hint at his own dissatisfaction, too.
“The standards are not only important in the gym. It’s also on the pitch. Okay. You understand me? Without me saying anything?” Slot said in reference to comments made by Mohamed Salah.

The Liverpool head-coach then added.
“I wish I was able to say what I feel at this moment but I can’t, So, how will I answer that question then?
“As I said, I completely agree with him [Salah] how important these standards are. I think they (standards) are in a good place at the moment.”
Those are seriously damning comments and put that together alongside Liverpool’s performance and it’s clear to see – it’s all over for Slot at Liverpool.
It doesn’t matter how many roundtables Liverpool record. It doesn’t matter what the club will officially brief to the media. Because if results continue this way, and they will, he will be relieved of his duties. It’s a matter of when, not if now.
The last few days have made it clear that there is no going back, it’s finally all over for Arne Slot at Liverpool. This is well and truly the end of his reign at Anfield.
