Mexican pride is on the line as David Benavidez challenges Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez for the WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles in a Cinco de Mayo blockbuster in Las Vegas.
Benavidez (31-0, 25 KOs) is bidding to become a three-weight world champion having lifted WBC gold at super middleweight and light heavyweight.
However, he meets an opponent in Zurdo (48-1, 30 KOs) who is enjoying his finest run of form as a professional after a sometimes slow-burning career.
“It’s time to go to war,” Benavidez said. “When I see the fire, I put myself in the fire to get the best version out of myself, and I’m not scared of nobody.”
