The 2025 RBC Heritage looked to have the potential to be a turning point in Justin Thomas’ career as he won on the PGA Tour for the first time in almost three years.

Thomas endured some difficult times after his second major victory in 2022. However, his win at Harbour Town did not come as a huge surprise as his form had been trending in the right direction for some time.

Unfortunately, a back injury would delay his start to the 2026 season. And it seems that the 32-year-old is still trying to get back on track.

Justin Thomas’ form since his return from injury assessed

He posted two rounds of 79 before missing the cut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Meanwhile, he has just one top 25 finish in five starts on the PGA Tour this year.

Thomas finished tied for 77th back at the RBC Heritage earlier this month. His week ended on something of a high as he posted a 66 in the final round.

However, speaking on 5 Clubs, Brendon de Jonge admitted that he is concerned by how Thomas has been playing since he returned from injury.

“That’s the word, consistency. It’s been so up and down. We saw some really good stuff from him at The Players, the bounce back after API. He did some really good stuff. And then I watched him play all four rounds at RBC Heritage, and it was bad. Really, really bad,” he said.

“If it wasn’t the iron game, then it was the driver that was off. There just is no consistency right now in the game of Justin Thomas. He’s pretty far off.”

Justin Thomas’ statistics on the PGA Tour this season are extremely concerning

As de Jonge notes, there does not appear to be an area of the game that Thomas can really cling to right now.

He is outside the top 100 on the PGA Tour for strokes gained off the tee, approach, and putting.

He is also 134th for driving accuracy. It is a real shame given that there were some encouraging signs during the 2025 season.

Thomas seemed absolutely determined to not come back too soon, particularly after watching Xander Schauffele take his time to get back towards his best 12 months ago.

Hopefully his form just highlights how long Thomas spent away from practicing as he looked to ensure that he only came back once his body had completely healed.

But given that Thomas only has one top 10 in a major since winning the 2022 PGA Championship, there will understandably be some concerns about what level he will be able to get back to.
