Once again, violence took over football this Sunday (19).

And, unfortunately, the “regrettable scenes” spread around the world.

In South America, more specifically in Paraguay, the derby between Olimpia and Cerro Porteño was postponed because of a massive brawl in the stands involving Cerro fans and the national police.

Security forces fired rubber bullets in an attempt to contain the chaos, while a group of fans disarmed a police officer and took his shield — displaying it like a trophy.

The police then responded with tear gas and pepper spray, which quickly spread to other sections of the stadium, causing even more panic.

The players threw water bottles into the stands in an effort to ease the discomfort caused by the police devices.

The match was postponed due to a lack of security.
