Former New York Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen is back in the NFL, joining the New England Patriots as a defensive analyst.
The move reunites Bowl with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Bowen was Vrabel’s defensive coordinator with the Tennessee Titans from 2021-2023.

Bowen was Giants’ defensive coordinator in 2024 and part of 2025, being fired interim head coach Mike Kafka late in the 2025 season.
Charlie Bullen, who served as interim defensive coordinator for New York after Bowen’s firing, remains with the Giants. He is the team’s outside linebackers coach and run game coordinator.
Zak Kurh, who was a low-level defensive assistant under Bowen with the Giants in 2024, moved to the Patriots last season and has quickly risen to becoming New England’s defensive coordinator. Kuhr called defensive plays for New England last season after defensive coordinator Terrell Williams was sidelined due to a health issue.
