First-year head coach JJ Redick has led the Los Angeles Lakers back above .500.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis each recorded double-doubles while combining for 58 points in Friday night’s 131-125 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

The Lakers ended a two-game slump and improved to 3-2 on the season with the win.

Lebron James and Anthony Davis. Best duo in the league

Skip Bayless @RealSkipBayless

When LeBron (5-8 threes, 10 assists, 0 turnovers) and AD (38 pts on 14-20) play this dominantly, the Lakers have a Top 10 and a Top 5 player. TELL ME THAT ISN’T ENOUGH TO WIN THE WEST.

Carlos 🟠 @CarlosBerkley

LeBron and AD stats from today are perfect man. This is how they should play every game. LeBron runs the show, playmakes and scores, Davis dominates defence and scores big and rebounds

loks @MouaWilliam1856

Too easy man
LeBron and AD pick and roll is deadly

Ikivuguto Gikonje🇷🇼 @Arsene190

I don’t think there’s any duo with a connection like the one LeBron and AD have on the court

James led the Lakers with 14 points, while Davis contributed nine, in the first 12 minutes to help their team climb out to a 43-19 first-quarter lead.

The Raptors began to chip away at the early lead in the second half, pulling within 11 points of tying the score by the end of the third quarter.

Nicky A @AJRazim

Lakers really allowed this team to come back into this game? Like they did with the Suns game? SMH #LALvsTOR

Being able to sustain a blowout 20pt lead is actually a really critical aspect of being a championship team.
To pull of easy 20+ point victories you need depth and discipline. Last couple years the Lakers haven’t had the discipline to button up for 48 minutes.

The Flying Dutchman @valterritsjames

JJ Redick and the staff can only do so much with what they have which is great. They’re maximising the roster. Same can’t be said the last two years.
However, now they need to upgrade the roster. That much is abundantly clear. (Was before of course.)

Sports Central @CarmeloJreal

Lakers scored 130 points but the bench scored only 18 points. Disgusting. Lakers FO has no intention in helping LeBron and AD and winning a ring.

The Raptors came within six points in the fourth quarter, but clutch free throws from Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves ensured the Lakers could close out the win.

The victory marked the Lakers’ third since Redick took over the role of head coach ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Jovan Buha @jovanbuha

JJ Redick said he adjusted the rotation tonight to put the ball in D’Angelo Russell’s hands more next to Anthony Davis. That also resulted in Austin Reaves and LeBron James playing more together, with Redick noting their two-man chemistry.

Daniele Franceschi @Daniele_Media

I’m confident in saying JJ Redick is a good tactician. The Lakers’ offensive execution is really impressive.

🏆LakersGuru🏆 @GuruLakers

Anthony Davis is a VERY different player under Redick than he was the last two seasons.

@HoodiHachimura

JJ Redick revived the Lakers
he’s doing what needs to be done with a hand that was dealt
A++

5-2🦅 @TimmyTheButcher

Lakers are getting calls again. Coaching looks fluent and simple. players know their roles and finally Lebron and AD can be themselves. Love the effort

Davis finished the night with 12 rebounds and a game-high 38 points on 14-of-20 shooting from the field while going 10-of-11 from the foul line.

James went 5-of-8 from behind the arc while contributing 27 points and 10 assists in the victory.

jimbo @jimboslicer69

Name anyone playing better than Anthony Davis right now….😳🤯

Damien Peters @DamienPetersNBA

Anthony Davis is firmly in the MVP conversation early in this season.

Both RJ Barrett and Gradey Dick topped 30 points for the Raptors, but were unable to overcome James and Davis as Toronto fell to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 at home.

Davis, James and the Lakers are back in action on Monday night with another road game, this time against the 1-5 Detroit Pistons. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
