The Miami Dolphins began their voluntary offseason workout program Tuesday, but one notable star was missing from the field. Head coach Jeff Hafley confirmed that Pro Bowl running back De’Von Achane did not report for the first day of workouts.
Aside from Achane, the rest of team was in “perfect attendance”, as per Hafley.
Hafley kept his thoughts on the matter concise, describing the matter as “part of the business”. Achane is currently entering the final year of his four-year, $5.43 million rookie contract. Although the team recently restructured his 2026 deal to clear roughly $3.6 million in cap space, the 24-year-old is widely expected to seek a lucrative long-term extension this offseason.

Last season, he established himself as the cornerstone of Miami’s offense, rushing for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns, while leading the NFL with an outstanding 5.7 yards per carry average. He also added 67 receptions for 488 yards and four more scores, earning his first career Pro Bowl nod.
General Manager Jon-Eric Sullivan recently called Achane a “building block” and stated that securing his future is a top priority for the franchise. According to reports, many teams called about Achane’s availability, but all calls were quickly shut down.
The rest of Miami’s offseason schedule is as follows, and it’s worth noting if/when Achane decides to show up.
