NFL Draft season is all about planting flags by players who you believe in. The 2026 cycle has been no different amongst the often influential media conglomerate. We’re finally into April and the draft discourse is of course ramping up more than ever.
One name making the rounds in draft media is Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion. The NC State transfer enjoyed a bounce-back season at his new home in College Station with just a tick under 1,000 yards from scrimmage and 10 scores in 2025. That was no small feat in a crowded Aggies locker room that boasts several future NFL Draft picks within the unit. Concepcion was also one of the most dynamic punt returns in the country, averaging a whopping 18.2 yards per return and two more scores.

The 2025 season benefited Concepcion — a campaigned that showed off his role versatility with more opportunities to run out as the Z-flanker role for the Aggies last season after being viewed as a slot-only receiver during his time at NC State. He displayed an arsenal to release off press in certain spots within SEC play against bigger cornerbacks, which will make him attractive to some teams even if his best NFL role might be in the slot for a high percentage of snaps.
How KC Concepcion wins vs. defenders
One of Concepcion’s most redeeming on-field traits is his ability to accelerate within the first five to 10 yards of a route. This is the point where he really stresses corners with how fast he gets out of his stance and to his spots. His lightning-quick acceleration plus the ability to catch-and-run allows Concepcion to quickly uncover at the college level.
A quarterback playing with good timing will likely love what Concepcion offers at the next level due to that ability to find fast success within the initial 2/3 hot spots of the field. Concepcion is also very smart and nuanced on finding zone coverage cushion and presenting himself to the quarterback when given the chance. He also has shown well with the ball in his hands — seeing the second and third levels well and competing for additional yards as opposed to simply stepping out of bounds at first possible exit.
How KC Concepcion could fail in the NFL
Some areas of concern/question with Concepcion’s game are in the final third segment of the field on the deep vertical plane. He’s not a player who plays through contact at a high level or someone will be a true ball winner in the NFL based on everything he’s put on tape.

Concepcion has enough vertical speed to make defenders respect him, but he doesn’t possess requisite traits or characteristics as a football player to make it a point of absolute strength. Concepcion’s hands are one of his worst traits — allowing the ball to get into his frame and failing to high-point the football.
What to expect of KC Concepcion in the NFL
Overall, Concepcion didn’t put up the gaudiest numbers that will turn heads. He did, however, have an evolutionary season with the Aggies in a crowded receiver room saddled with some seriously shoddy quarterback play.
Concepcion is now one of the most electric players in this draft class, and he’s really starting to pick up some serious buzz. A team that allows him to be free to work inside the numbers on choice routes or in-breakers is going to love what Concepcion brings to the table. The chops as a punt returner certainly won’t hurt his resume.

Quick outlets and the middle-of-field intermediate areas are going to be where Concepcion lives in the NFL. That said, he will need to get more comfortable with contact at the catch point as it comes even quicker and more violent at the next level.
