The Fitzpatrick brothers are on top of the golfing world.
Alex Fitzpatrick, the younger brother of 2022 U.S. Open champion Matt, won his first DP World Tour title on Sunday at the Hero Indian Open. Fitzpatrick trailed by six shots at points during the final round but rattled off eight birdies down the stretch, leading by four on the final hole. Even a double at the last couldn’t take away the biggest week of his life.

“I’ll try and explain without crying, it’s been a lot of hard work for a long time,” Fitzpatrick said. “As much as this is the most amazing thing in the world right now, there’s more important things in life than golf so… probably going to cry but yeah, ecstatic. I just had to ask my caddie how many putts I had (to win) from 6 feet, so I think that says it all.”
The win is also historic, as the Fitzpatricks become the first brothers to win titles on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour in consecutive weeks. Matt won the Valspar Championship last week for his third PGA Tour crown.
And this week, the younger Fitzpatrick finally had his breakthrough.
“It can be hard sometimes when you’re constantly chasing someone’s accolades but luckily it’s my brother,” Fitzpatrick said. “It’s extremely nice to join him in the winners’ ranks and hopefully I can continue to push on.

“I idolize him, so just trying to be like him in every way so yeah, hopefully we can keep doing well.”
Fitzpatrick, who attended college at Wake Forest, topped defending champion Eugenio Chacarra by two shots. Chacarra began the day with a four-shot lead, but in a three-hole span on the back nine, Fitzpatrick flipped the script and took the lead for good.
Starting on No. 6, Fitzpatrick would go on to birdie six of his next eight holes. He added a pair of circles on Nos. 15 and 17. The double at the last wasn’t pretty, but winning never is.
“I’m mentally exhausted,” Fitzpatrick said. “I thought I hit a good tee-shot there on 18 and I was in the rough, then you’re chipping out – it’s a challenge out here for sure but happy to come out on top.”

Fitzpatrick’s win will also vault him into the top 10 of the Race to Dubai, with the top-10 finishers after the DP World Tour Championship in November earning PGA Tour cards for the 2027 season.
