Francesco Pio Esposito scored against Atalanta and it was more than just a contribution in a hard-fought draw, it etched the Italy starlet’s name into Inter Milan’s record books in multiple ways, confirming him as one of the most remarkable young talents in European football right now.

The strike took Esposito to five Serie A goals for the season, making him the seventh Inter player to reach that tally in the current campaign, as per FCInterNews.

On a personal level, the milestone places Esposito in elite company within Inter’s own history.

He is only the fifth player in the club’s history to score five or more goals in a Serie A season before turning 21, joining Nicola Ventola, Obafemi Martins, Mario Balotelli and Mateo Kovacic.

The detail is even more striking when ages are factored in.

Esposito was 20 years and 259 days when he netted against Atalanta, making him the youngest Inter player to reach the five-goal mark in 16 years.

The only player to achieve it younger in that period was Balotelli, who hit five at just 19 years and 147 days.

There is one more remarkable statistic to add.

All four of Esposito’s goals since the start of 2026 have come at San Siro.

Among players in Europe’s top five leagues with at least as many home goals in that period, only Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal is younger.
