Tim Tszyu returned with a win in his hometown on Wednesday night, claiming a one-sided decision victory over the durable and previously undefeated American Anthony Velazquez.
The pair’s respective faces told the story, with Velazquez wearing a significant cut on his left cheek, while his right eye sported a solid mouse, Tszyu on the other hand got through relatively unscathed.
Some of those in attendance at the TikTok Convention Centre voiced their frustration at Tszyu’s inability to get Velazquez out of there but the 31-year-old former world champion was a dominant winner regardless.

In the chief support, former world title challenger Sam Goodman returned to the winners’ circle with a unanimous decision (100-90 x2, 99-91) victory over Tyler Blizzard.
Goodman didn’t have it all his own way, with Blizzard’s tight guard proving a difficult puzzle to solve at times, although the New South Welshman clearly had the better of the fight.
Earlier, Callum Peters improved to 5-0 and claimed the Australian middleweight title with a sixth-round stoppage of Cody Beekin.

Tim Tszyu vs. Anthony Velazquez fight updates, results and highlights
Tim Tszyu defeats Anthony Velazquez in one-sided return
Round 10: A quick break as some glove tape comes loose on Tszyu when Velazquez landed a left hook. The visitor is loading up on some right hands now and he may as well, he’s not winning a decision. Tszyu managing to avoid the heat for the most part. Tszyu times a left hook as Velazquez enters range. 99-91 Tszyu
Round 9: Tszyu lands a left hook in close to kick the round into gear. Velazquez has some success on the jab. Not a whole lot in it for either guy that round but we’ll let the visitor have one. 89-82 Tszyu
Round 8: More of the same to start the eighth and Tszyu finds the target with some good shots. Velazquez finds some joy from nowhere with a sharp combination off the backfoot. Probably Velazquez’s best round but still goes to Tszyu. 80-72 Tszyu
Round 7: The doctor checks out the cut and we’re right to continue the fight. Tszyu straight on the front foot, looking for a way through the guard. Velazquez sparingly firing back left hooks of his own. One of them lands as Tszyu fires a 1-2. 70-63 Tszyu
Round 6: Tszyu seems to fancy his chances to end it soon, pushing forward aggressively. Tszyu having success every time he backs his opponent up to the ropes. Velazquez up to the task so far but running out of ideas. Now he’s cut badly under the left eye to end the round. 60-54 Tszyu
Round 5: Velazquez opens up with several left hooks but they only partially land through the guard. Tszyu back on the jab. Tszyu forces his man back and tees off with a sharp combination. A short break for a low blow but Tszyu insists they get right back into it. The local boy stalking here, cutting off the ring well. 50-45 Tszyu
Round 4: A double left hook lands for Tszyu. And now a hard overhand right. He’s turning it up here. Velazquez fires back his own overhand right. Tszyu lands another left uppercut late in the round. 40-36 Tszyu
Round 3: Tszyu goes to the body in a clinch. Velazquez on the backfoot and eats a combo against the ropes. The visitor not doing enough with his offence to keep Tszyu off him at the moment. 30-27 Tszyu
Round 2: Tszyu pressing forward, Velazquez giving him little to think about coming back the other way. Tszyu mixing in some hooks now. The Aussie looking in control, thudding some right hands into the guard. Velazquez hardly thrown his right until the very last seconds of the round but Tszyu evades. 20-18 Tszyu
Round 1: A fairly watchful start from both, flicking the jab. Tszyu lands a meaningful one midway through the round, then a 1-2 shortly after. Velazquez careful not to commit on anything yet. Solid round from Tszyu. 10-9 Tszyu
