Inter Milan have renewed their interest in Roma midfielder Manu Kone ahead of the summer window, with the France international remaining highly regarded by both sporting director Piero Ausilio and head coach Cristian Chivu, the same admiration that drove an unsuccessful pursuit last August.

Inter made a concrete attempt to sign Koné at the start of this season before the move fell through.

And, since then, the midfielder has continued to impress at Roma.

According to Fabrizio Romano, via FCInterNews, no new contacts have been established between the clubs at this stage.

However, the Nerazzurri’s appreciation for the midfielder has not diminished.

Chivu’s specific request to the board for a physically imposing, box-to-box midfielder this summer makes Koné an obvious fit.

Therefore, he is precisely the profile the Inter coach has in mind.

The obstacle remains the same as before.

Roma have already signalled they have no intention of offering a discount, and with Koné under contract, they hold the leverage.

Inter will need to meet the asking price or find a creative structure to get a deal done.

It is indeed a challenge, but not an insurmountable one given the level of desire on the Nerazzurri’s side.
