Charlie Woods fought to undo back-to-back double bogeys early in his second round on Thursday in the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley.

Woods, a junior at the Benjamin School and son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, shot 76 (4-over) on March 12 at the Sage Valley Golf Club in Graniteville, South Carolina.

He finished the first two rounds of play 7-over and tied for 27th in a field of 36 golfers. Miles Russell, the No. 1 ranked junior golfer in the AJGA Rolex Rankings and defending tournament champion, leads at 10-under overall.

Woods opened the second round with five consecutive pars, including on No. 14, which he triple bogeyed in the first round, before finding double bogey trouble on No. 15, a par 4, and No. 16, a par 3.

He rallied down the stretch on Thursday with birdies on three of his last six holes, including his final two of the round.

The Junior Invitational has established an accomplished list of champions in less than two decades of competition. Scottie Scheffler, the world’s current world No. 1 golfer, won the event in 2014.

Other notable champions include reigning Arnold Palmer Invitational champion Akshay Bhatia (2018) as well as Joaquin Niemann (2017) and Austin Eckroat (2016).
