Following a controversial scoring in July, Robson Conceicao and O’Shaquie Foster compete in a rematch on November 2 for the WBC super featherweight title. The fight airs on ESPN+ in the U.S.

Conceicao (19-2-1) failed to capture gold three times before beating Foster for the WBC belt in July. Brazil’s first Olympic boxing gold medalist is 2-0-1 in his last three fights.

Foster (22-3) had his twelve-fight win streak end as a result of the loss. After three straight hard-fought wins against Rey Vargas, “Rocky” Hernandez (the 2023 Fight of the Year), and Abraham Nova, he looks to hold gold around his waist again.

In the first fight, Conceicao landed single-digit shots in ten of the twelve rounds he competed in. Foster landed more total shots (25.1%) than Conceicao (10.8%) and landed double-digit shots five times. The latter won via split decision and looks to prove why he deserves to be champion.

“Foster’s team wasn’t happy with my victory. But he should have asserted himself more in the fight as a champion. He ran and avoided the fight the entire time,” Conceicao said.

“I showed that I deserved the win and should have come out as the champion. I was the one asserting myself the entire time. I was the one landing a lot of punches. So, today, I’m a world champion because I earned it and fought for it.”

Top prospects look to impress, while former contenders look to get back in the mix of things on the undercard.
