Had it been anyone other than Anthony Kim who won LIV Golf Adelaide, Bryson DeChambeau’s final round at The Grange would likely be getting a lot more attention.

DeChambeau began the final round tied with Jon Rahm, but his hopes slipped away early after four bogeys in the first seven holes.

In the end, Kim finished 11 shots ahead of the two-time major champion on Sunday.

This is not the first time DeChambeau has struggled to keep pace when he appeared to be in a two-player race.

The final round of the 2025 Masters had all the makings of a classic. Rory McIlroy started two shots ahead of Bryson DeChambeau, who in turn held a two-stroke lead over Corey Conners.

DeChambeau did not hide his belief that the winner would come from the final group.

He was not wrong, but his own hopes vanished by the time he reached the 12th hole.

By then, he was four over par for his round after struggling through Amen Corner.

While he and Rahm held a bigger lead over the field in Adelaide, DeChambeau may still be regretting a similar mindset that only two players were truly in contention.

Asked on Saturday if his duel with Rahm could mirror their singles match at the Ryder Cup, he replied: “Well, I wish I would have played him or Rory, but it didn’t happen.

“But I think, yeah, it’s going to be a good battle tomorrow. We’re going to have some fun. We’re going to hit some good golf shots, hopefully hit more fairways. Other than that, it’s going to be a lot of fun tomorrow. Going to give it all we have.”

No one seemed to think Kim had a chance – except for Kim himself.

Meanwhile, DeChambeau faces questions about how he handles head-to-head battles.

Bryson DeChambeau’s final-round form becoming a worry

His career highlight remains that dramatic win over Rory McIlroy at the 2024 US Open, a day when it truly felt like just two players were out there.

But since then, his results have not quite matched the level expected of him. He has only picked up one LIV victory since the start of 2024.

It is not just his record in head-to-head situations that is causing concern. His final round performances overall are also coming under scrutiny.

DeChambeau has struggled significantly on the LIV Golf circuit since the start of 2025, recording 11 rounds over par. A notable pattern is his difficulty in final rounds, where six of these above-par scores have occurred, most recently in Adelaide.

And if you add to that his poor showing in last year’s Masters final round – which was at least six shots worse than any of his previous three – it all adds up to a worrying trend for the 32-year-old.
