Real Madrid have identified their priorities for the summer transfer window of 2026, and the midfield appears to be at the top of the said list.

After all, Alvaro Arbeloa’s men have been struggling to control play through the middle week in and week out, and there is a sense of internal acceptance that their squad planning went wrong at some stage.

To remedy their errors of the past, the board are willing to do what it takes to bring in big names in the department, and they have identified PSG superstar Vitinha as their priority target for the summer.

The reality check

In a recent update, reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano gave his two cents on the Real Madrid-Vitinha saga and how realistically possible the deal is.

To begin with, he confirmed that the PSG see the midfielder to be a crucial part of their plans and have him on a long-term contract with a handsome pay and an important role on the field.

Further, the player has a deep respect for Luis Enrique and the PSG board for making him who he is today.

Real Madrid do indeed have an interest in the player, but signing him will be very pricey and complicated given how Vitinha is comfortable in Paris.

Moreover, PSG will not even consider his sale unless an exorbitantly high offer arrives, something Real Madrid may not be willing to put up at the scale PSG expect.

There are several clubs interested in the midfield stalwart, but it will be a very expensive transaction to even think about – something that drastically reduces the chance of him changing clubs in the summer.

If there is any club in the world that has the aura to pull off such a low-probability move, it is Real Madrid, but even that looks very unlikely at the moment.

Los Blancos, thus, must keep a couple of backup plans alive to have something to lean on if the Vitinha objective fails.
