Palmeiras won for the first time in this Brasileirão by thrashing Vitória 5-1 this Wednesday (4).

The result at Arena Barueri was quickly set, with the home team going into the break leading by three goals.

Murilo, Gustavo Gómez, Maurício, Allan, and Sosa scored the goals for the team led by Abel Ferreira.

Dudu found the net for Vitória, which remains with three points on the table.

Defenders opened the floodgates

This Wednesday’s game was the first in 2026 with Flaco López and Vitor Roque together in the starting lineup.

But it was another duo (the defenders) that played a decisive role in Palmeiras’ victory.

Murilo opened the scoring from a corner play, marking his first goal since May of last year.

Gustavo Gómez made it 2-0 in another set-piece play, taking advantage of an assist from his defensive partner.
